The project Last Places Amazon started in 1992 when biologist Marco Lima was sent by the University of Manaus deep into the jungle to investigate the fruit eating sih of the Amazon River. During his 3 month stay inside the rainforest Marco deeply connected with the environment and the native people living there. After the experience Marco and his wife Marineti decided to create a travel company to promote responsible tourism in the Amazon rainforest working side by side with the native people. This was the seed of Last Places Amazon. When Marco met Pong, an adventurous Thai-Canadian photographer seeking for remote tribal communities, thye connected and Last Places Amazon was born.

At Last Places Amazon, our mission is to connect exploration with conservation, empowering indigenous communities and preserving the Amazon’s ecosystems. We offer responsible, immersive travel experiences that showcase the region’s rich biodiversity and culture, promoting sustainable tourism that benefits both nature and local tribes. Through our work, we aim to inspire global stewardship and leave a positive, lasting impact on the Amazon and its people.
